ok on this page I will show you how to save about £95 and get about 1bhp extra from 2nd and 3rd gear, the reason there is a retarder on 2nd and 3rd gear is so the bike can meet E.U (Not sure if USA models have to conform to the same tests) noise regulations, so Suzuki put a retarder on it that way the bike is revving less ( which means its quieter ) when it passes the noise trap, so the options are to go out and buy a little box called a G-Pack which will make your wallet £95 lighter, or do it my way, ok here we go.......
here is the G-pack here
here's what G-pack say: "Installing G Pack is as easy as Plug and Play, fast and doesn't require any electrical knowledge. Thanks to compatible pins it fits in a few minutes on the original wiring between the connectors and the ignition box (CDI), without any changes or modifications. G-Pack can be disconnected in a moment and your motorcycle restored to its original configuration. G-Pack is active on the second gear between 2700 and 8200rpm and on the third between 2100 & 8200rpm It operates on ignition advance and ensures optimum engine exploitation."
ok now lets do it my way. . . . . . . . .
first things first you will need 1 or 2 tools
a small electrical screwdriver
electrical insulation tape or heat shrink
a set of tweezers or a contact pick tool
ok, now that you have the tools go and open up the rear seat on your bike
now you will see the ignition control box
remove the ignition control box connector
now on the multi plug there are two wires one is a red wire with a yellow trace, and the other is a green wire with a blue trace these are the wires you have to remove, on the wire end on the top of the multi plug they are number 3 and 4, so get your tools and use the tweezers/contact pick tool to release the pins on the multiplug, then pull out the 2 wires one by one
now using your insulation tape/heat shrink cover the contacts of the wires that way they cant earth/short out on parts of the sub frame/chassis
tie wrap the cables back on to the wire loom they come from just for tidiness (optional ) I didn't do this as it started to rain
plug the multiplug back in, stick on your seat, and start up the bike, and while sitting with the clutch in, go up and down the gears just to make sure that the bikes not cutting out or doing anything irregular
next step take the bike out and enjoy the extra throttle response and power in 2nd and 3rd gear!
joderrrrrrrrrrrrrrr que tocho
